Among the many more cardiac surgeries our center has undertaken, a few of them opened up a new chapter in the history of Ethiopia cardiac surgery. In 2021, our team performed the first-ever Bental procedure not only In Ethiopia but in East Africa on a 42 year old male patient suffering from a condition affecting the body’s largest artery. We reached yet another milestone in the year 2022 when we operated on a 41 year old father of two who had traveled back to Ethiopia from the united states for the first time in 20 years and had the first off-pump CABG, also known as beating heart surgery.
